Based on a thrilling novel by Tom Clancy, this is the story of a Soviet submarine commander (Connery) who is put in charge of a new submarine whose silent propulsion system allows it to elude sonar. But Connery wants to defect to the West without starting a nuclear war. Both Connery and Baldwin give performances that are among the best of their careers in this highly entertaining and engrossing feature.
