Burstyn plays a recently widowed mother who decides to go on the road with her precocious son, determined to make a new life for herself as a singer. But she is forced to take a waitressing job at Mel and Ruby's Diner. Burstyn won the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Ladd was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and screenwriter Robert Getchell was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. This original insert poster was never folded, but it does have a tear which has been mended with archival mending tissue.
