American International U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Very Fine Folded
American International U.S. One-Sheet for the William Crain directed film BLACULA (1972). The film starred William Marshall, Denise Nicholas and Vonetta McGee. The film is a significant milestone in the history of the horror movie because it was the first time that a black actor had played a vampire. While the film received mixed reviews from the critics, it was one of the best attended films of 1972. The fact that it made a lot of money made it easy to mount a sequel, SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM (1973). The filmmakers were seasoned television veterans. And William Marshall had appeared on several TV shows. Some care was taken to create characters that had some dignity and to treat the whole film as if it were not simply a throwaway. So successful was the movie that it spawned a whole host of exploitation horror films with black actors. The poster has really started to become scarce. MovieArt Austin offers this example which is folded, like most of the one-sheet posters of that era, and it in very fine condition. MovieArt Austin will sell no reproductions.
