RKO Original Half Sheet Poster 22x28 Unfolded. Fine Condition
Producer Val Lewton did not really intend this film to be a strict sequel to CAT PEOPLE, but the bosses at RKO wanted to exploit the popularity of the first film -- although there are no actual cat people in the movie. The movie is more a ghost story, a story of childhood suspense. Horror fans did not quite know what to make of it, and movie critics were unkind. But over time this film has garnered some serious revisionist admiration. Gunther von Fritsch was assigned to direct the movie, but when he fell behind in the shooting schedule his duties were assumed by ace film editor Robert Wise. It was Robert Wise' first directorial effort and he went on to one of the most prolific and varied careers in Hollywood. This poster is special because it is signed by Robert Wise with the inscription "To Dick, With Best Wishes, Robert Wise."
