United Artists Original Insert Poster (14x36) Conserved on lightweight paper Fine Plus to Very Fine Condition

United Artists Original Insert Card poster (14x36), conserved on lightweight paper, for the William Wyler directed drama DODSWORTH (1936) starring Walter Huston, Ruth Chatterton, Paul Lukas, Mary Astor, David Niven, Maria Ouspenskaya, John Payne and Spring Byington. Walter Huston plays an automobile magnate, fairly conventional, who is married to Ruth Chatterton, a narcissistic social climber. Taking a break from his career, husband and wife embark on a European tour and on the boat they discover that they may want very different things from the rest of their lives. The film was based on a very successful literary novel by Sinclair Lewis and the adapted for the screen by Sidney Howard. Howard had success in adapting Sinclair Lewis previously, penning the screenplay for ARROWSMITH (1931.) Here his writing was deftly turned into a provocative film by director Wyler. Later Howard would go on to write one of the screen's most famous adaptations, GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), for David O. Selznick. Sidney Howard would die shortly before the film was released. The poster is graded in fine plus to very fine condition. MovieArt Austin guarantees that this poster is an authentic, vintage insert card for this film. MovieArt Austin will sell no reproductions.
