Original U.S. Half-Sheet Poster (22x28) Folded Very Good Plus to Fine Condition
Paramount Pictures Original U.S. Half-Sheet Poster for the Billy Wilder directed musical comedy THE EMPEROR WALTZ (1948) starring Bing Crosby, Joan Fontaine, Richard Hayden, Roland Culver and Lucile Watson. A real curiosity in the filmography of Billy Wilder, the screen play was written by Wilder and his partner Charles Brackett. The movie was filmed in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. This locale was no doubt supposed to double for the Austrian alps. Wilder wanted to make a film that would recall atmosphere of Old Vienna at the turn of the 20th century. It was also Wilder's idea to make a film that would be a tribute to Lubitsch. Crosby was a huge star at the time, and he simply ignored most of what Wilder wanted him to do. Thus the film was not what Wilder wanted, and it occupies a lesser spot in the list of great films that he made. This poster was used in a theater. It is folded, and in very good condition. There is some border wear at the lower left. Colors are vivid. MovieArt Original Film Poster in Austin, Texas
