He is hired by Bess Armstrong, played by Eve Tozier, to help her find her missing father before he is listed as officially dead. Eve loses her inheritance to her father's conniving business partner, Bentik played by actor Robert Morley. Selleck and Armstrong begin their journey in two biplanes and travel through six countries before finding her father, the eccentric Bradley Tozer, in China helping the locals fight a warlord. While the film was originally offered to directors John Huston and then Sidney J. Furie, Brian G. Hutton ended up as the final director.
