Original 20th Century-Fox Insert Poster (14x36) for the Robert Rossen sports / pool shark drama, THE HUSTLER (1961) starring Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Piper Laurie, and George C. Scott. This is the depressing and grim tale of "Fast" Eddie Felson, a renegade kid out to beat the system. Yet, at almost every turn, it's the cynical and cold system that beats Eddie. The film won two Academy Awards and was nominated for seven more-- including Best Actor for Newman, Best Supporting Actor for Gleason and George C. Scott, Best Actress for Laurie, Best Director for Rossen, and Best Screenplay. The superbly sleazy jazz score by Kenyon Hopkins further enhances this wonderful film. The poster is in very fine condition and is folded. There is also a Dutch censor stamp in the upper left.
