Columbia Pictures Original Italian Poster (79x55) for the William Castle directed western film, THE LAW VS. BILLY THE KID (1954). The movie stars Scott Brady, Betta St. John, Alan Hale, Jr.,James Griffith, William Phillips, Richard H. Cutting and Robert Griffin. This is pretty standard fare for a Billy the Kid tale. Billy's shown as more or less a victim, not the murdering thug that he actually was. Interesting fact, Billy was played by Scott Brady, whose real name was Gerard Tierney, a younger brother to the more famous Lawrence Tierney, also many times a bad guy in movies. The film was directed by William Castle, a few years before he would become famous as the director of gimmicky movies like THE TINGLER and 13 GHOSTS. Castle directed eight movies in the year 1954. Billy gets some romantic moments with Betta St. John, but, of course, it can't last. This poster was used in an Italian cinema.
