Description
Barnsdale Motion Pictures Original Poster (20x30) Extremely rare Very Fine Plus Condition
Extraordinary 20x30 poster for a very early documentary (1903!!) peek at prison life. Walter Barnsdale was born in Donnington, England in 1867. He was a very early pioneer in silent film. Barnsdale was known for taking a generator, reels of film and a projector to rural areas of the United States and showing his films. He made this film documenting the lives of prisoners in the Wisconsin State Prison. What is remarkable about this poster is not only its age but also its condition, which is quite spectacularly good. This may be the oldest film poster we have in our inventory. The poster is a stone lithograph and the execution of the printing is nothing short of great. We acquired two posters of Barnsdale's - this one and a poster for PRISON BARS (1901). Please see our listing for that poster, also in immaculate condition. MovieArt guarantees that this poster is an authentic poster - very rare indeed - from the work of Walter Barnsdale. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions.
