Allied Artists Original French Grande Poster (47x63) Folded Very Good Plus Condition Theater-Used
Original Allied Artists French Grande Poster (47x63) for the Billy Wilder directed film LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON (1957) starring Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn. It a curious fact of Audrey Hepburn's career that when she was young woman she was mostly paired with older leading men - Bogart, Gary Gooper Henry Fonda, Cary Grant, Rex Harrison. This film is a May to December romance with a wry script by Wilder and his colleague I.A.L. Diamond. The story was based on a novel by Claude Anet, "Arianne, Jeune Fille Russe". This story had been previously filmed in 1928 as "Scampolo" and then again in Germany as "Scampolo, ein Kind der Strasse" in 1932, a version for which Wilder wrote the script. Hepburn is a young cello student and Cooper is a somewhat jaded, if attractive, American businessman. Maurice Chevalier plays Hepburn's father. The love story which ensues is somewhat peculiar and more than a bit charming. The French Grande poster features art by Bertrand. This poster was used in a cinema and we have graded it as very good plus mainly because of some small tears and distresses to the edges. MovieArt Austin guarantees that this poster is the authentic French 47x63 for this movie. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions.
