Original United Artists Italian Four-Sheet Poster (79x55) for the John Schlesinger film MIDNIGHT COWBOY (1968) starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. Many critics consider this film to be one of the greatest American films of all time, and the American Film Institute includes it in its top 100. Schlesinger creates a dark but fascinating film about a na ive young guy who moves to New York City thinking that making a living will be easy. But he discovers otherwise as he goes from one degrading experience to another. He meets and befriends Ratso Rizzo a crippled, sleazy street person. Together, the two of them try to survive in this cold, cruel urban jungle with the goal of eventually moving to sunny Florida. The film got seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor nominations to both Hoffman and Voight and Best Supporting Actress to Miles. The Film won Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director to Schlesinger. The wonderful art on the Italian four-foglio is by Enzo Sciotti. This is a large poster, printed on two separate panels which are joined together to display as one poster. Be sure you have room for it! This is a rare style. We have not seen this at auction. Quite nice! Condition is fine plus to very fine with some signs of general wear as this was a poster used in an Italian cinema.
