Original MGM Insert Poster (14x36) for the Frank Lloyd adventure drama classic, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (1935) starring Charles Laughton, Clark Gable, and Franchot Tone. This is the true story of Fletcher Christian (Gable), who successfully leads a revolt against the ruthless Captain William Bligh (Laughton), only to have Bligh return a year later to avenge the mutiny. Every thing about this film is superlative: the acting, direction, cinematography, music, sets, and locations. The acting was so good that all three leading actors (Laughton, Gable, and Tone) were all nominated for Best Actor. This is the only film in history to garner three Best Actor nominations; thus, the Academy had to create new Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories. The film won the Best Picture Oscar.
