Based on a story by George Lucas, this homage to adventure comics of the 1930s has more energy than three action movies put together. Harrison Ford delivers a memorable performance as the renowned archeologist Dr. Indiana Jones, who is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant, which is believed to carry an incredibly powerful energy, before the Nazis find it. The film was nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. It won five Oscars including a Special Achievement Award for sound effects editing. The film had two posters that were widely seen at the time of the film's run. The first style is the style that you see here, which dates from 1981.
