This is an original Warner Bros one-sheet poster (27x41) for the Nicholas Ray iconic teen agnst movie, REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (1955) starring James Dean, Natalie Wood, and Sal Mineo. Ahead of its time in 1955, this wonderful film is an exploration of the dicey underbelly of the ostensibly happy, suburban, post-war years in middle class America. James Dean delivers a striking portrayal of a lonely, angry, and frustrated teenager who has a desperate need to be loved. Along with his new friends, Wood and Mineo, he forms a kind of "faux" family unit based on mutual trust and understanding. Mineo, who fell completely and madly in love with James Dean on the set, could not dissemble his feelings in the making of the film and is perhaps Hollywood's first "sympathetic" and barely closeted gay character. Both Mineo and Wood were nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. This poster is linen backed and we have graded it in fine plus condition. Theater used, colors are vivid, with minimal restoration. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees this poster to be an authentic U.S. poster for this film.
