Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the James Whale post-war drama, THE ROAD BACK (1937) starring John "Dusty" King, Richard Cromwell, Slim Summerville, and Maurice Murphy. The film deals with a group of German soldiers who try to adjust to civilian life after World War I. Fearful the film would not do well overseas, studio bosses at Universal insisted on severely editing the film before release, removing much of the anti-Nazi slant that novelist Erich Maria Remarque had included in the original novel and which director Whale had intended to retain in the film version. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
