Description

Original MGM 40x60 Poster. Rolled. Very fine condition.

Original MGM 40x60 Poster for the Jack Haley Jr. musical documentary, THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Released in 1974, amidst the Watergate scandal and growing public cynicism, THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! was among the most popular films of the year. This retrospective of MGM musicals features an A-list cast of hosts and narrators, including Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Liza Minnelli and other MGM stars reminiscing on the backlot of the studio, the last time a film was shot on the MGM backlot. THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! is really nothing more than excerpts from musicals such as SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, THE GREAT ZIEGFELD, BROADWAY MELODY OF 1938, STRIKE UP THE BAND, ANCHORS AWEIGH, GIGI, etc., but the format was so popular that it spawned THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! PART II (1976) and THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! PART III (1994), and inspired THAT'S DANCING! (1985). The tagline for the publicity campaign: "Boy! Do We Need It Now" was prescient. And not inappropriate for our own angst-ridden era. This original 40x60 poster is rolled and in very fine condition, with just some minor tears on the borders. THIS IS A 40X60 INCH POSTER, rolled, and thus it is large!
