American International U.S. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the John Milius directed gangster film DILLINGER (1973). The tale of John Dillinger had been spun several times in the movies, but American International wanted to bring a more modern take with some blood and guts to the story. And with a great cast signed, they did so. The film stars Warren Oates, and there is some very good art of him by George Akimoto - the same art that would be used on the one sheet. Also in the cast were Cloria Leachman, Ben Johnson, Frank McRaie, Richard Kanaly, Harry Dean Stanton, a young Richard Dreyfuss and Michelle Phillips in her first film. The card is signed by Steve Kanaly and John Milius. Milius would go on to share a screenwriting credit with Francis Ford Coppola for APOCALYPSE NOW (1979). We purchased a collection of signed lobby cards from the estate of a gentleman who worked in film distribution. As this man met actors along the paths of their careers, he asked for signatures.
