Description

Original French Grande Poster (47x63) Folded Very Fine Werner Herzog Klaus Kinski Jean Mascii

Original Gaumont French Grande Poster (47x63) for the film FITZCARRALDO (1982). A mad film starring a mad actor and directed by often-called-mad Werner Herzog. But if Herzog is mad, there is a method to it, for he has directed some exciting cinema over the decades. Fitzcarraldo is based loosely on the story of rubber baron Carlos Fitzcarrald, who transported a steamship (disassembled into various parts) over some mountains to reach the amazon basin. In Herzog's film the protagonist, rebranded Fitzcarraldo, purports to get the whole damn ship over the mountains. The film has a storied history, and the production was difficult. It is MAD. In the midst of all this madness is Claudia Cardinale. Music by the eighties art band Popul Vuh. One of the most interesting films of the 1980s. Our example of the poster is folded, as is the custom with French Grande posters, and it was used in a cinema in Quebec. It is in nice shape, but it does have a Province of Quebec censor stamp on it. It should regarded to be in fine plus condition, folded. The poster would be great backed and we invite you to ask about poster conservation services. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees this poster to ge authentic.
