Warner Bros Original U.S. Lobby Card for the Vincent Sherman directed film ICE PALACE (1960). The film stars Richard Burton, Robert Ryan, Martha Hyer, Jim Backus, Carolyn Jones, Diane McBain, George Takei, Ray Danton and Barry Kelley. This was adapted from another epic generational novel by Edna Ferber. Ferber wanted to do for Alaska what she had done for (some would say TO) Texas with GIANT. That film had been a huge hit for Warners. ICE PALACE, not so much. Despite a good cast, the sprawling melodrama was talky and fail to capture Ferber's interesting story about Alaska statehood. The card shows Ray Danton and Diane McBain, and is signed by Diane McBain. We purchased a collection of signed lobby cards from the estate of a gentleman who worked in film distribution. As this man met actors along the paths of their careers, he asked for signatures.
