The title card has been signed by the actor Coleen Gray. The movie is the story of Tom Dunson (Wayne), who builds a cattle empire with his adopted son Matthew (Clift). While on a massive cattle drive from Texas to Missouri, Matthew has a falling out with his father and tries to steal the herd away. This was certainly one of WayneÕs best cowboy performances, and the popular film became the third highest grossing film of 1948. The film also boasts a memorable score by Dimitri Tiomkin. The film is also one of the great films of director Howard Hawks.
