Original U.S. one sheet poster for the 20th Century Fox film THE ROSE (1979) directed by Mark Rydell and starring Bette Midler, Frederic Forrest and Alan Bates. Originally THE ROSE was conceived as a biopic of legendary rock/blues singer Janis Joplin. But the energy and direction of the film was not really capturing the Joplin phenomenon and Midler's role became one of a fictional self-destructive singer. Forrest plays her lover and Bates her manager in a sort of A STAR IS BORN type melodrama. This pretty one sheet is in very good, average used condition and is folded.
