Warner Bros Portrait Lobby Card (11x14) from the Roy Del Ruth directed comedy STOP, YOU'RE KILLING ME (1952). The comedy stars Broderick Crawford, Claire Trevor, Virginia Gibson, Sheldon Leonard, Howard St. John, Harry Morgan and Margaret Dumont. The movie is a black comedy, if you will, kind of unusual for 1953. It's set at the time of the Repeal of Prohibition, and follows the travails of a bootlegger baron who must learn to make beer the legal way. Since Claire Trevor makes any movie better, we can assume that Crawford is happy to have his arms full of a great co-starring talent here. The film is a remake of a 1938 movie, A SLIGHT CASE OF MURDER, which, in turn, was an adaptation of the play by the same name written by Damon Runyon and Howard Lindsay. We purchased a collection of signed lobby cards from the estate of a gentleman who worked in film distribution. As this man met actors along the paths of their careers, he asked for signatures.
