Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Folded in Very Good Plus Condition
Republic Pictures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster for the George Sherman directed B-western film THREE TEXAS STEERS (1939). The film stars John Wayne (just before he made his big career breakout), Ray "Crash" Corrigan, and Max Terhune. Also acting in the movie are Carole Landis, Ralph Graves, Roscoe Ates, Bob Burns and John Merton. There were, according to wikipedia, 51 films in the series of westerns known as The Three Mesquiteers, and John Wayne played the lead in eight of them. The stories can be predictable. The acting is suited to the material, as close to the old west as Hollywood is to Burbank. But the posters for these films elicit the era of the Saturday Afternoon western as good as any. Wayne is handsome, Carole Landis is pretty, and below the romantic clutch there's some mischief going on. This poster was clearly used in a theater. It is folded, with some minor distresses along the horizontal fold lines. Colors are vivid. A great candidate for linen-backed. Put it up in the bunkhouse or in your woman-cave. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is authentic.
