Fox PIctures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster for the Tom Mix Western film THE YANKEE SENOR (1926). The film was directed by Emmett J. Flynn. It stars Mix, Margaret Livingston, Olive Borden, Francis McDonald, Tom Kennedy, Kathryn Carver and Raymond Wells. And, of course, Tony the Wonder Horse. Tom Mix plays Paul Wharton, a civil engineer who is informed that he is the heir of his grandfather, Don Fernando. Paul travels to Mexico, ending a long estrangement from his family, and he sees his grandfather. Don Fernado's stepson is jealous and soon he and Paul are at odds. Juan in fact tried to kill Paul by tying him to a wild horse. But Tony the wonder horse saves Paul, and he returns to settle scores. The movie was based on a novel by Katherine Fuller Gerould, "Conquistador." The film was believed lost, but there seems to be some dispute about that. There is a Technicolor sequence within the film, gorgeous photography of a wedding party. The poster is ebulliently lovely, with Mix atop Tony, admiring the Mexican peasant women and their elegant counterparts.
