This was the second Disney animated feature to use full rendered and textured 3-D CGI moving backgrounds in combination with the traditional hand-drawn character animation. ALADDIN was the most successful film of 1992 and was the first animated film to gross over $200 million in America. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, and won the Oscar for Best Musical Score (Alan Menken) and Best Song ("A Whole New World") to Menken and Tim Rice. Art by Calvin Patton.
