Producers Releasing Corporation Original U.S. Scene Lobby card for the first horror film made by the studio, THE DEVIL BAT (1940). The film stars the incredible Bela Lugosi and Suzanne Kaaren and was directed by Jean Yarbrough. Lugosi plays a disgruntled employee with laboratory talents. When he is cheated by his bosses, he concocts an aftershave lotion that will attract giant bats (which he has also concocted). He gives his superiors the aftershave -- and you can imagine what happens next. If this sounds a bit funny, it really is. Nevertheless, Lugosi conjures the air of sinister menace that his fans love. PRC was one of the famed "poverty row" studios, which nevertheless did well with their "B" programmers. And who wouldn't pay to see Lugosi skulk around in this lab coat? This card is in very fine condition, with some spare, almost invisible scuffs in two places. Overall, quite nice.
