UCIL Original French Grande Poster (47x63) Folded Very Fine Condition Art by Rene Peron
UCIL Original French Grande poster (47x63), folded, for the Roger Vadim film ET DIEU...CREA LA FEMME (1956). The film also stars Curt Jurgens, Christian Marquand, Jane Marken, Isabelle Corey, Marie Glory and Jean-Louis Trintignant. Bardot had been in films before, and, indeed, she had a small part in the Warner Brothers epic HELEN OF TROY, released in the same year as this film. But it was ET DIEU..CREA LA FEMME (1956), with Bardot in a very provocative role as a sexy teenager, that catapulted her to international fame. The several nude scenes that she did in the film were very racy for the time, and the movie created a worldwide sensation. Indeed, when the film was imported into the U.S., it had to be cut to conform with local standards. The mid-fifties years were the beginnings of the end of film censorship in the U.S. Bardot plays a young girl, an orphan, with an unrestrained sexuality. She pouts and poses and is generally beautiful, and alluring to the men who populate the movie. She is photographed with great effect by Roger Vadim, who would use her natural gifts to create an erotic presence on screen that has rarely been matched. Bardot's career would go for several decades and she would eventually achieve mainstream status. This poster is the very first edition of the large French poster, dated 1956. The film was also re-released in 1964, and the poster for that release was an offset printing version of this poster, which has been seen at auction several times. But the first edition has proven very scarce over the decades. The first edition is a stone lithograph. The poster has a small fold separation at one of the fold intersections, but is fundamentally in very fine condition. MovieArt guarantees that this poster is an authentic French Grande poster for the very first release of this movie. The artist is Rene Peron. MovieArt Austin will sell no reproductions.
