Description
20th Century Fox Original Three Sheet Poster (41x81) Movie Poster Good Condition Theater used.
Original 20th Century Fox Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Edmund Goulding light-hearted musical comedy, DOWN AMONG THE SHELTERING PALMS (1951) starring William Lundigan, Jane Greer, Mitzi Gaynor, David Wayne, and Gloria DeHaven. The story begins after the end of World War II, when Capt. Willoby (Lundigan) and his men must "occupy" the remote Midi Island. At first disgusted at not being able to go home, the men then meet the "friendly" island women - except they are not supposed to "fraternize" with them. Originally filmed in 1951, the film was held back by Fox until 1953 and seems to have been based on the studio trying to cash in on the popular stage success of Rogers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific." Gaynor is amusingly miscast as a native Polynesian girl. Gloria DeHaven, however, sings a rendition of "All of Me" that steams up the screen as much as anything Marilyn Monroe ever did. Good condition only with a fold separation and other distresses. Other general signs of use. We recommend linen backing for this poster. Priced accordingly. Theater-used, average condition. Please note that three-sheet posters are large format posters which are printed on two separate panels which are then joined together to make one poster. MovieArt Austin guarantees this poster to be authentic. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions.
