Original MGM Re-Release of the 1980 One-Sheet Poster for the Victor Fleming Civil War masterpiece, GONE WITH THE WIND (1939) starring Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Olivia de Havilland, and Leslie Howard. Based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell, this film is certainly one of the greatest films ever made, bringing together the best talent in Hollywood at the time. Not only are all the performances outstanding, the scenery and costumes are sumptuous, the cinematography by Ernest Haller and Ray Rennahan (shot entirely in Technicolor) is glorious, and the music of Max Steiner is memorable. The film was nominated for 13 Academy AwardsÑincluding Best Picture, Best Actress to Leigh, Best Director to Fleming, and Best Cinematography. In 1967, MGM commissioned some new artwork for the release of GWTW in 70mm.
