MGM Original Italian Photobustas - eight in all - for the Charles Walters directed musical HIGH SOCIETY (1956). The film stars Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra. A prestigious supporting cast adds to what was a lush effort on the part of MGM. The film was a remake of another movie, the unforgettable THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940). The idea was to bring back the story and to add some Cole Porter songs for luster. And indeed, the musical part of the film may hold its greatest success. While much of the original dialogue was kept for HIGH SOCIETY, it was, after all full of classic lines for the three stars of that storied film. Nevertheless, Grace Kelly was never more beautiful, and the music was kept swinging by Sinatra and Crosby. And the irrepressible and quite wonderful Louis Armstrong whose supporting role is a highlight of the movie. These photobustas have not been seen very often, and not in this condition.
