Universal Pictures Original One-Sheet Poster (27x41), folded, for the film THE IPCRESS FILE (1965) starring Michael Caine, Nigel Green, Guy Doleman and Gordon Jackson. The film was directed by Sidney J. Furie. It was made squarely in the middle of the James Bond mania of the mid-sixties. But this was a film without the tongue-in-cheek jests and lavish gimmicks of the Bond movies. In fact this review sheet quotes one wag as saying "IPCRESS FILE is a thinking man's GOLDFINGER." The film is an adaptation of Len Deighton's first spy novel. The novel was wildly successful, so it was not a stretch for producer Harry Saltzman to want to further ride the spy bandwagon. IPCRESS is an acronym, and in case you're wondering it stands for "Induction of Psycho-=neuroses by Condtioned REflex with StreSS." Michael Caine is perfect and so it's no wonder this film stands as one of Caine-fans' favorites. The poster is a theater used copy and we have graded in very fine condition.
