Fox Film Corporation Original U.S. Half-Sheet Poster (22x29) Never Folded Good Condition
Fox Film Corporation Original U.S. Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the dramatic silent film THE LIGHT (1919) starring Theda Bara and Robert Walker. The film was directed by J. Gordon Edwards. Both players were amazing people in their own way. Theda Bara, of course, was one of the first truly enormous stars. She created the personal of the vamp, a type of seductive femme fatale, and she became world famous playing that character whether she was interpreting Salome (1918) or Cleopatra (1917) or even Madame Du Barry (1917). It is remarkable, given her fame and career, that very few posters from her career have survived. Photographs and lobby cards have been seen more often, but even these are not common. U.S. posters are indeed scarce. THE LIGHT is about an exotic French woman, Blanchette Dumond, who lives with her lover in Paris during World War I. Blanchette gets around to be sure, and, of course, she is the subject of some desire. Robert Walker had a long career, appearing in many films until 1953, mostly westerns. After 1926, Theda Bara made no more movies. Both actors died, remarkably, within a year of each other, Walker in 1954 and Theda Bara in 1955. THE LIGHT is a lost film. No prints of it are known to exist. This half sheet is the only poster are aware of for this film and while the print is monochrome, there is also some hand tinting on the poster. MovieArt Austin guarantees this poster to be original, vintage, authentic. MovieArt Austin will sell no reproductions.
