Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster 27x41 Folded Fine Plus Condition

Original United Artists one-sheet poster (27x41) for the Robert Altman directed satire THE LONG GOODBYE (1972). The film stars Elliot Gould, Nina Van Pallandt, Sterling Hayden, Henry Gibson, David Arkin, Jim Bouton and Jack Riley. One of the last novels by Raymond Chandler which was made into a film, the movie was hated by critics, withdrawn from release, then loved by some critics, and in general ignored by audiences. Later the film was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. The trouble with and the beauty of the film, depending on what side you might be on, was that the tough-guy-with-a-soft-heart private eye, Philip Marlowe, was not allowed to occupy his traditional space. The period of the film was updated to a seventies-era Los Angeles in which Elliot Gould and Altman would satirize the gumshoe. This poster was created after the film was withdrawn and then reissued and featured comic art by Jack Davis. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is authentic. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
