The film stars Charles Martin Smith as a government biologist sent into the wilderness to study the caribou population, whose decline is believed to be caused by wolves, even though no one has seen a wolf kill a caribou. Never Cry Wolf also stars the late Brian Dennehy and was the first Disney Film to be released under the new Walt Disney Pictures label. This film is also notable for being one of the only Disney-branded live-action films to show brief full-frontal male nudity as well as scenes with bare bottoms.
