West was a famous burlesque queen in the 1940s-1960s. Born Amy May Coomer in 1921, she came to fame as the Hubba-Hubba Girl. A real character, she promoted herself as the "$50,000 Treasure Chest." There's a nice page at wikipedia which gives some very interesting details about Evelyn West. A NIGHT AT THE FOLLIES is the one movie she made.
