Remick is perfect for the part of the mother who slowly comes to realize that something is wrong with her son. Gregory Peck easily portrays the noble and principled father. One of the best aspects of the film is the incredible musical score of Jerry Goldsmith, for which he won the Academy Award. It is wonderfully gloomy, disturbing, chilling music interlaced with choirs portending the end of the world.
