Original Italian two-foglio (39x55) for the Columbia Pictures film PICNIC starring William Holden, Kim Novak, Rosalind Russell, Arthur O'Connell, Cliff Robertson, Susan Strasberg and Betty Field. One of the landmark films of the 1950s, PICNIC was directed by Joshua Logan. A drifter (this was before they were called The Homeless) comes into town riding the rails and upsets everything and everybody, including the ravishing Kim Novak and the aging Rosalind Russell. Before PICNIC was a movie it was a play, written by William Inge and premiered in 1953. The play ran for over 400 performances and thus it was a prime property for one of the large studio to make it into a film. PICNIC was a play that challenged audiences and the film aspired to do the same. Information about the film and the play at is instructive. This wonderful Italian two-foglio is 39x55 inches.
