Columbia Pictures Original One-Sheet Poster for the western film THE RANGE FEUD (1931) starring Buck Jones, Susan Fleming, John Wayne, Edward LeSaint, Wallace Macdonald, Harry Woods, Hank Bell and Bob Burns. The film was directed by D. Ross Lederman. This one-sheet is one of the scarcer posters for Buck Jones films. Remarkably simple and beautifully executed with gorgeous stone lithography, this is one of the more romantic one-sheets for a Buck Jones film. One of the thirties biggest western actors is seen looking tenderly into the eyes of leading lady Susan Fleming. This poster would be beautiful in any home theater or study. An interesting side note about the movie: this was the one of several cheap films that John Wayne appeared in for Columbia after the failure of THE BIG TRAIL. His time at Columbia Pictures was short lived after the studio's crass dictator Harry Cohn saw Wayne flirting with a young actress who was Cohn's at-the-moment girlfriend. When Wayne's contract with Columbia was finished, he felt the full weight of Cohn's wrath as the mogul suppressed his career with other studios. Wayne does not appear on the poster. The poster was delicate and had some minor edge wear and fold weakness, so we had it linen-backed by an expert conservator. It presents beautifully and is ready for framing.
