Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Folded Very Good Condition Average Used

20th Century Fox Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Henry Koster directed biblical film THE STORY OF RUTH (1960). It was the era of biblical and historical epics, all tailor-made for the wide screen processes such as CinemaScope, which, in 1960, had been in use for just seven years. This film purported to adapt one of the Bible's famous stories of love and devotion, the story from the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament. The film stars Stuart Whitman, Tom Tryon, Basil Ruysdael, David Thayer, Jeff Morrow, Les Tremayne, Eduard Franz, Victor Buono, and the fabulous Swedish actor Viveca Lindfors. The role of Ruth was played by a newcomer, Elana Eden. The film is regarded as one of the lesser of these types of films from the period. It was, however, given an interesting footnote in cinema history, when it was tagged in the Oscar Winning film THE SHAPE OF WATER (2017). The protagonist of that movie lives above a theater, and the theater is playing THE STORY OF RUTH. Resonances between the love stories in the two films is part of the marvelous ambience of THE SHAPE OF WATER. This poster was used in a theater, and it should be regarded to be in average used condition. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees this six sheet to be authentic, vintage, original. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
