Tarzan Finds A Son! (1939) Original Movie Poster

Original 1939 MGM (pre-war) Italian 28x40 poster for the Richard Thorpe directed adventure film TARZAN FINDS A SON. The movie was the fourth outing for Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan. There would be Tarzans after Weissmuller as there were before him. But Weissmuller was a natural athlete, a winner of five Olympic Gold Medals, who came along at the exact time to inhabit a role which would become a legendary thread in the fabric of Hollywood History. In this film he would once again co-star with Maureen O'Sullivan. Tarzan needs a girlfriend. But in this movie he gets a kid, simply named "Boy", played by a wonderful young actor, Johnny Sheffield. Sheffield would portray Boy eight times over the course of his career, as well as Bomba the Jungle Boy twelve times in another series of jungle films, until his final appearance in LORD OF THE JUNGLE (1955). But it is TARZAN FINDS A SON that cemented his place in movie history. This is an extremely rare poster, as are most Italian posters printed before World War II, a folded stone lithograph in fine plus condition. A very unusual find.
