Columbia Pictures One-Sheet Poster for the 13-episode serial BRENDA STARR, REPORTER (1945). The chapter title is, appropriately enough, "Man Hunt". Joan Woodbury played the intrepid reporter out to get a story. The serial was based on the comic strip created by Dave Messick. This was the 25th serial that Columbia made. For those of you too young to remember a serial: these were feature length films that were doled out to the audience in segments or chapters. Chapter one would play for a bit, and then a week later, the theater would have chapter 2. For years they were part of the bait that kept millions and millions of people coming back to the theaters.
