Paramount Pictures Original U.S. Lobby Card Set for the Howard Hawks directed film EL DORADO (1966) starring John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, James Caan, Charlene Holt, Paul Fix, Arthur Hunnicutt and Michele Carey. EL DORADO was filmed in 1966, but was not released in the United States until 1967. The film concerns a drunken sheriff who is assisted by a gunfighter in defending a rancher against outlaws. Howard Hawks made this story, more or less the same story, three times: RIO BRAVO (1959), EL DORADO (1966) and RIO LOBO (1970). Each film has more or less the same plot, more or less the same characters. This movie did well, and doubled Paramount's investment.
