Original U.S. Half Sheet Poster (22x28) Trimmed on Right Border Fair Condition Only

This is an original MGM Half-sheet poster (22x28) for the Vincente Minnelli musical, GIGI (1958) starring Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, and Louis Jourdan. Set in Paris in the "Gay Nineties," this Lerner-Loewe musical is considered by many critics to be the best MGM musical ever made. Everything about the production was quite nearly perfect, the songs by Lerner and Loewe, the lavish sets and costumes, artful direction by Minnelli, and excellent performances by all the cast and especially Chevalier who steals every scene he is in. The film won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Song "Gigi" to Lerner and Loewe, and Best Director to Minnelli. Chevalier won a special Oscar for "contributions to the world of entertainment for more than half a century." This half-sheet was used in a theater in Canada and it has a province of Quebec censor stamp on it. It has also been trimmed unevenly on the right border.
