Original 1959 U.S. Re-Release One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Linen Backed Very Fine

Columbia Pictures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) for GILDA (1946), re-release of 1959. The film was directed by Charles Vidor, and it remains one of the most adored film noirs. The movie stars, in arguably her best role, Rita Hayworth as Gilda, a nightclub performer whose sultry routines are incendiary. The famous "put the blame on Mame" sequence is one of the most famous musical moments in all of film-noirdom! The movie also stars Glenn Ford, George Macready, Joseph Calleia, Rodolfo Hoyos, Jr., and Blackie Whiteford. This one sheet poster is not from the first release of 1946, but rather from the re-release of 1959. It is a testament to the strength of the film that Columbia would want to reissue the film to 1959 audiences. For the poster, Columbia used the design of the art for the style B one-sheet of 1946. That poster is one of the most beautiful posters in the movie poster world and is expensive. The 1959 poster was for many years ignored, but now is viewed as a very nice poster for a fraction of the price of the 1946 sheet. This poster was in fine plus condition and we have had it linen-backed. It presents beautifully. MovieArt Austin guarantees that this poster is an authentic U.S. re-release poster for GILDA. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
