Costello plays a country bumpkin vacuum-cleaner salesman, working for a company run by the crooked Abbott. This is a charming film full of pathos and not the usual Abbott and Costello formula. This was their first comedy to be driven by the characters and the situations, rather than gag-driven as in earlier films. The two former friends and colleagues were in the midst of a terrific feud and refused to speak to each other except during the actual shooting of the movie.
