Warner Brothers Original One Sheet Poster 27x41 Folded Fine Condition
Original one-sheet poster for the John Wayne film ISLAND IN THE SKY, directed by William Wellman. Wellman, who was sometimes known as Wild Bill Wellman was one of the great characters of old Hollywood. He managed to wrangle a job directing WINGS, largely because of his knowledge of aviation and pulling it off rather well. Indeed, planes would be one of the features of many of his films. His tenaciousness and drive yielded a long career as a director. The film concerns the crew of a transport plane that is forced to an emergency landing in icy Labrador. Filmed in the snow in Colorado, the set of the film was almost as exhausting as the characters' lot in the narrative. The cast included Lloyd Nolan, Walter Abel and a young actor who was to become one of the giants of the television western, James Arness. The poster is in fine condition with some minor signs of wear as this was most clearly a theater-used poster. We have graded the condition as fine. MovieArt guarantees this poster to be the authentic one-sheet for this film. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions.
