Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41). Folded. Fine Plus Condition.

Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Howard Alk music documentary, JANIS (1975) starring Janis Joplin, Peter Albin, Sam Andrew, and Dave Getz. When Janis Joplin barreled out of Port Arthur, Texas and landed in Austin, she was a "folk singer." But that's just another way of saying that she was already in love with the blues. That was fully three years before she would explode onto the pop music scene as the rock-blues star sensation that she would become. An untimely death at the hands of a careless drug use ended Janis' career, but not her legend. The posthumously released LP, PEARL, confirmed what a fine exponent of the blues she was. JANIS (1975) is an anthology of performances by the singer with her various bands assembled three years after her death. Some great moments are recorded and some glimpses into the unhappiness that sometimes clouded this great figure from the counter-culture of the 1960s. The photo on this one sheet is by Jim Marshall. The one sheet is folded, was theater used, but is in fine plus condition. The poster shows some wear, is slightly irregularly folded, but the colors are vivid. Only the most minor of fold separations - just at the intersections. This poster would linen back very nicely.
