LONE STAR BEER PROMOTIONAL POSTER (24X32) 1974 Art by Jim Franklin
Artist Jim Franklin is one of the artists who emerged from the counterculture of the 1960s. Based in Austin, Texas, Franklin was long associated with the Armadillo World Headquarters. Franklin's work is widely admired and his works were published in part in the Abrahms book THE ART OF ROCK. Lone Star Brewery commissioned a series of paintings to advertise the bottled beer known as Long Necks. This was the second in the series of posters created from artwork. It is clear that this poster was printed around the time of the Christmas holidays, 1974.
