Columbia Pictures Original Italian 79x55 Poster for the Curtis Bernhardt directed drama MISS SADIE THOMPSON (1953). The film stars Rita Hayworth, Aldo Ray, Robert Anderson and Frances Morris. This was the third time the popular story by W. Somerset Maugham was made into a film. The 1928 silent version was titled SADIE THOMPSON and starred Gloria Swanson, a performance for which she received an Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. The story was used again in 1932 in the film RAIN, starring Joan Crawford. In this film Rita Hayworth plays the role of the woman of questionable repute who is trying to remake her life on a South Sea island. This beautiful Technicolor version was filmed on the sparsely populated Hawaiian island of Kauai. The film did receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
